Project Description | Construction of a boardwalk, viewing platform and walkway |
Fisherman’s Lookout and the Wategos Beach access track are located within the popular Cape Byron State Conservation Area, Byron Bay. Fisherman’s Lookout is a popular location for viewing the amazing backdrop of surf and marine life. The Wategos Beach track provides access to the beach from the eastern end of Marine Parade. The project consisted of the construction of a lookout and walkway at Fisherman’s Lookout and Wategos Beach respectively, to replace the existing structures. As part of the revitalisation of Fisherman’s Lookout and Wategos Beach, Roman Contractors dismantled existing structures and constructed a new lookout and walkway along the existing alignment. A 40 metre x 1.2 metre wide boardwalk and 40 metre x 40 metre viewing platform was constructed at Fisherman’s Lookout, and a 36 metre x 1.2 metre wide walkway was constructed along the existing Wategos Beach track alignment
The successful construction by Roman Contractors of the new viewing platform at Fisherman’s Lookout and the Wategos Beach access track has ensured locals and visitors can enjoy the popular scenic location, by having a safe location to view the surf and the amazing views around the bay from, and a safe way to access the sand without disturbing the local wildlife.
